Q: “Does my child face a risk for injury with Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do?”

Our program is extremely safe. We have measures upon measures in place to ensure that your child will stay safe, and have a great time. From stretching to warmups to very close supervision - we've got your child covered. Injuries do happen sometimes - but they're quite rare.

Q: “Do kids enjoy Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do? Do they stick with it for a while?”

Kids have a blast here. There's smiling and laughter throughout every class. We have our moments of intense concentration and focus... but we always balance things out with fun and games to keep everything alive and light.

Q: “Do children's confidence & self-esteem grow with Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do?”

Absolutely. Kids with low self-esteem often come out of their shells. As their skill level increases, they feel more and more confident. Other kids look up to them, just as they look up to other kids who are ahead of them. It builds a sense of confidence, pride, and teamwork.

Q: “What's a good age for a child to start Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do?”

Honestly, practically every age is a good age to start! We have children as young as 3 years old, as well as teenagers. We also have specific programs for adults. So no matter where you or your child is on the age spectrum - we've got you covered.

Q: “Is Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do for boys only? Or can girls participate as well?”

Our martial arts classes have been, and always will be, for boys AND girls! Every class has a good blend of the two as well. In fact, girls often get the hang of it sooner than boys as they're naturally more flexible.

Q: “My child isn't athletic. Can they still participate in Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do if they're not athletic?”

Yes! In fact, martial arts is a beacon of light for kids who just don't fit into team sports. Kids who couldn’t throw a ball well or run fast find that martial arts is accessible to them. It's something they excel at, and as a result, their confidence soars. Plus...no one is left out or sits the bench at Speakman's Kenpo 5.0 and New Breed Martial Arts! We make sure everyone gets personal time to work on specific needs for success!

Q: “Does Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do make kids physically aggressive?”

No way! Martial Arts is about peace, harmony and diplomacy. It teaches children how to AVOID fights - not pick them.

Kenpo 5.0

Q: “Is there a risk for injury with Martial Arts?”

Any sport or form of exercise comes with a risk of injury. However, there are a few things that make our program very safe. It's because of these few things that we barely see any injuries with our program.

Stretching: At the beginning of every class we go through a series of stretches. These stretches get your muscles and joints ready and warmed up for exercise.

Supervision: Every class is supervised by trained, certified professionals. We watch carefully to make sure no student is doing anything in a dangerous or unsafe way.

In short, we place a tremendous amount of focus on fun and safety. It's because of this that we feel confident telling you that while there is risk for injury with our program - it's a very small risk.

Q: “What level of fitness is required for Martial Arts?”

People come to us of all fitness levels. We get natural-born athletes, and we get people who have a harder time with athletic endeavors. However, everyone gets the same focus and attention.

If you're not in great shape, don't worry. Go at your own pace, and we'll do everything we can to help you learn each and every technique. Soon enough, your physical fitness will improve, and you'll be in better shape than ever!

Q: “Is there violence involved in martial arts?”

People often mistake self-defense for violence. We teach self-defense here.

Self-defense means doing everything in your power to AVOID violence! It means being diplomatic and peaceful. In fact, people who have had problems with violence in the past often become peaceful and balanced through martial arts.

We like to change up your workout, which prevents boredom and maximizes your workout goals and results. You can expect “multi-tasking” for your muscles. Stretching, running, obstacle courses, circuit training, jumping jacks, pushups, jump roping, sit-ups, abdominal work, core training and agility drills. Basically, just a lot of good old sweat, which is a great way to detox your body and mind!

Q:"How soon will I see results?"

Everyone is different with different types of body frames and constitutions. Some can see improvements in performance in as little time as 1 week. Many see visual improvements in 3 weeks, depending on your effort level and maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle outside of classes. We will conduct assessments and fitness tests to gauge fitness improvements. These tests will be recorded to show you how and where you’ve improved, as well as areas to work on to maximize individual results.

We will provide modified workouts that are personalized for you as an alternative to strengthen your body and still give you the most intense workout possible.

Q:"Will you yell at us?"

Yes, there will be yelling involved, but only in a healthy, motivating way. We don't abuse, harass or degrade anyone…ever. We provide positive reinforcement, encouragement, some good jokes and lots of fun.
